Tips for child proofing your home

If a person is looking to start childproofing their home, they might be interested to know about some of the newer designs of cabinet and drawer safety locks and latches.  The days of difficult to install and hard to operate locks are gone!  Most locks and latches are designed especially for convenience, while maintaining high safety standards.

One of the new child cabinet locks to hit the baby safety market recently is the magnetic latch.  This latch is convenient and pleasing to most since there is no visible lock.  The magnetic latch is placed on the inside of the cabinet door.  To release the magnetic lock, a person uses the magnetic key and places it on the outside of the cabinet in the vicinity of the magnetic lock that is inside the cabinet.  As long as the key is on the cabinet door, the cabinet will remain unlocked.

Another new safety lock for cabinets is the locking strap.  These straps can be used on appliances (dishwashers, ovens, refrigerators), drawers, lazy susans, and cabinets made of glass, metal, and wood.  Some strap locks can be applied to the cabinet without using screws, these are the ones made for appliances as well.

As safety equipment continues to become more and more convenient to use, people will be more prone to use it.  This will help protect more children and save lives.
