A Guide to Expedition Tents

If you plan on doing some adventure camping in places with extreme weather, you are going to need a special type of tent. The tent you’ve been using to camp for a weekend of fishing won’t cut it. You are going to need a tent that can handle extreme weather - rainstorms, snowstorms, and any other weather mother nature might throw at you.

The tent that can handle all forms of extreme weather is called an expedition tent. Tents are typically rated by seasons. A 1 season tent is designed for summer camping and can handle only very light rain. A 3 season tent can handle heavy rain, light snow, and mild winds. A 4 season tent is a tent that’s designed to handle the worst weather conditions. A 4 season tent is also called an expedition tent.

Before you buy an expedition tent, it’s a good idea to look at where you will be camping. If you find you are only going camping for a few days in locations that don’t have extreme weather, you won’t want to get an expedition tent. But if you plan on camping on mountain tops with severe wind, snow, and rain, an expedition tent can literally save your life.

A good expedition tent is expensive - thousands of dollars. It’s not a good idea to get a poorly made expedition tent because if you are going to camp in places where you need an expedition camp, your life could be at risk is something goes wrong with the tent.

There are different options when it comes to expedition tents. Depending on where you go camping, you may have to choose a different type of expedition tent. If you go camping on mountains rather than rain forests, you will need to pick out a tent designed for mountain camping rather than jungle camping.

It’s a good idea to do solid research online about getting the best expedition tents for your needs. There are so many choices and brands out there and you want to make sure you make the right expedition tent choice.
